Mohammed El-Kurd is an internationally touring and award-winning poet, writer, journalist, and organizer from Jerusalem, occupied Palestine, and the cofounder of the #SaveSheikhJarrah movement. His work has been featured in numerous international outlets, and he is currently the first-ever Palestine Correspondent at a U.S. news outlet, The Nation. His first published essay in this role, “A Night with Palestine’s Defenders of the Mountain,” was longlisted for the 2022 “One World Media Print Award.” He is the recipient of the 2022 Arab American Civil Council “Truth in Media Award.” El-Kurd’s debut poetry collection, RIFQA, was selected as one of “The Best Books of 2021” by Middle East Eye and has been shortlisted for the 2022 Forward Prize for “Best First Collection.” RIFQA will soon be released in Italian. Alongside his twin sister Muna, Mohammed was named one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World” by TIME Magazine in 2021 for “helping to prompt an international shift in rhetoric in regard to Israel and Palestine.”
